Braces

About Braces

Orthodontic treatment is about much more than aesthetics. Crooked, crowded, or misaligned teeth are harder to clean effectively, increasing your risk of cavities and gum disease. A misaligned bite can also cause jaw pain, headaches, and uneven wear on your teeth over time.

At Smylo Dental, our orthodontists offer a full range of braces options — from traditional metal braces to tooth-coloured ceramic braces — to straighten your teeth and correct your bite in the most efficient and comfortable way possible. Treatment is available for children, teenagers, and adults.

Every orthodontic treatment plan at Smylo Dental begins with a detailed assessment including digital X-rays and photographs. Your orthodontist will explain your options, expected treatment duration, and the results you can achieve before a single bracket is placed.

about Smylo

How It Works

1

Orthodontic Assessment

Digital X-rays, photographs, and dental impressions are taken to map the current position of your teeth and plan the exact movements needed.

2

Braces Placement

Brackets are bonded to each tooth and connected with an arch wire. This appointment takes approximately 60–90 minutes and is completely painless.

3

Regular Adjustment Visits

Every 4–6 weeks, you return to the clinic for a brief adjustment. The orthodontist tightens or changes the wire to continue guiding your teeth into position.

4

Progress Monitoring

Periodic X-rays and photographs track your progress throughout treatment, allowing the orthodontist to make precise modifications to your plan.

5

Debonding & Retainer Fitting

Once your teeth have reached their ideal positions, the braces are removed. A custom retainer is provided to hold your results permanently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Braces at Smylo Dental.

A first orthodontic assessment is recommended around age 7–8, when a mix of baby and adult teeth are present. However, braces can be effective at any age. Many adults successfully complete orthodontic treatment at Smylo Dental.

Treatment duration depends on the complexity of your case. Simple cases may take 12–18 months. More complex corrections typically take 18–30 months. Your orthodontist will give you a personalised estimate at the assessment.

Placement and adjustments can cause mild soreness for 2–3 days as your teeth begin to move. This is manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Most patients adapt quickly and find treatment very comfortable.

Metal braces are the most durable and cost-effective option. Ceramic braces use tooth-coloured or clear brackets, making them far less visible. Both are equally effective. Your orthodontist can guide you based on your preference and clinical needs.

Yes. Retainers are essential to maintain your results. Teeth have a natural tendency to shift back toward their original positions. A retainer — worn nightly — holds everything in place long-term.
